For the second straight year, hundreds of area educators gathered at Kasson-Mantorville High school for the "Learning First Summer Institute".
The two day seminar features more than a dozen presenters from all over the world. Each keynote expert shared their knowledge on school culture, connecting with students, and effective teaching techniques to all in attendance.
Learning FIRST Summer Institute focuses on ways to create environments that ensure learning at the highest level. Completing that goal begins with grooming premium educators.
"We have to look at things beyond just curriculum, we have to look at how do we cultivate relationships with our students? How do we ensure equitable learning opportunities? How do we make sure that we truly have a culture of excellence in every single building in every single classroom...across our communities and across the states?" Said FIRST Educational Resources President Garth Larson.
"Our whole goal is to make them (educators) understand the value they can bring to society and make sure that society is a beneficiary of those skills that we provide."
Larson says this year's seminar features more speakers and presenters than last year's. Approximately 630 educators came to Tuesday's seminar, approximately 50 more than last year.
"Our ultimate goal isn't just to give them the information but to make sure they actually do something with the information and put it into practice with our kids." Said Larson.
First Educational Resources is based out of Oshkosh, Wisconsin.
