1 arrested after knife assault in Rochester movie theater parking lot
ROCHESTER, Minn. (FOX 47) -
A night out at the movies turns into a knife assault in Rochester.
Dinner and a movie took a violent turn when an ex-girlfriend crashed the date armed with a knife. The victims are a 28 year-old male his friend, a 29-year-old woman.
30-year-old Jessica Marie Smith, of Rochester, was arrested afterward, and faces charges of 2nd degree assault with a dangerous weapon, domestic assault, disorderly conduct. Police say she may also face stalking allegations after the victim reported getting several texts from Smith as she threatened committing suicide on his doorstep.
The confrontation took place in the parking lot of the Chateau Theater at 3450 Circle Drive Northeast just before midnight Tuesday.
The couple was sitting in a car when Smith pulled the woman from the passengers seat. Police say the male victim then leaped over the seat and tried to restrain Smith, which is when she pulled the knife and started slashing at her ex-boyfriend.
During the struggle, the victim received a superficial cut across his chest, and the knife was thrown across the parking lot.
Smith then left after a friend picked her up in a vehicle.
Police later recovered the knife that was used in the assault, along with the victim's glasses. The victim told police he broke off the relationship in March.
