BYRON, Minn. (FOX 47) -

The 2018 Gopher Road Trip made one of its first stops of the tour in Rochester.

This years edition of the Gopher Road Trip featured some old and new faces, as head coaches from just about all of the scholarship sports at the university were in attendance, with a crowd awaiting them.

Monday night's event at Somerby Golf Club drew a full house to hear from the coaches and to showcase their Gopher Pride.

New Men's Hockey Head Coach and Austin native Bob Motzko made his debut on the road trip.

In addition, it was Football Head Coach PJ Fleck's second year aboard the trip and he was fired up as ever.

FOX 47 spoke with Men's Basketball Head Coach Richard Pitino about how the team rebounds from an injury riddled and disappointing season.

"When you lose 4 of your top 6, it's going to be challenging. So the biggest thing you gotta do is you gotta be healthy. We've got a lot of new faces, which is exciting, they're gonna take time, but that's okay. You gotta rely on the guys that have been there before, the Dupree McBrayer's, Amir Coffey's, the Jordan Murphy's, Eric Curry's, guys that have played before, to help those other guys," said Pitino.

Pitino was also excited about the new facilities in Minneapolis, that he said will give them a big boost in their recruiting efforts.

If you missed Monday's event, the Gopher road trip continues Tuesday in Owatonna beginning at 8:00 a.m. at the Owatonna Country Club.
