DNR extinguishes grass fire north of Cloquet Interiors
CLOQUET, Minn. (Fox47) -
The DNR was battled a grass fire that spread from the Cloquet Interiors fire.
The flames inside the building sparked a grass fire to the north.
Fire danger is extreme right now due to high temperatures along with dry, and windy conditions.
According to the crew on scene, they were able to put it out as it approached Highway 33 and a greener part patch of grass.
Area Forest Manager Craig Ferguson said, his crews returned to the scene this Friday morning, to make sure there was no danger of anything igniting a second time.
"On a day like today, with the stiff winds could spread and grow rapidly where we couldn't suppress it right away," he said. "We may have to use aircraft resources, tankers or a helicopter to suppress that wildfire rather than just ground resources."
With fire conditions even more dangerous Friday, the DNR said they're responding to any structure fire that has the potential to spread to neighboring grasslands.
