Kasson 11-year-old nears goal amount to build merry-go-round
KASSON, Minn. (FOX 47) -
You don't have to be an adult to make big things happen.
That's what one Kasson 11-year-old found out when she met with city leaders about getting a merry-go-round in the park near her home.
On Friday, Grace Reed began to inch even closer to her goal of having a merry-go-round.
With the help of a bake sale, cake walk and silent auction, she hopes to be able to pull in to her fundraising goal of $4,500, which will be matched by the city of Kasson.
With her goal just in reach, Reed is ecstatic and a little bit relieved she's just about made it.
"Pretty cool knowing that I did it. It's been kind of stressful on me and my mom and we haven't really had time for family in a while, so we're kind of excited it will be done for a little while," said Reed.
When the merry-go-round at the Public Library Park was deemed hazardous and ultimately removed a few years ago.
It prompted Grace go on this journey, because some of her favorite early childhood years are from the old merry-go-round.
