University of Minnesota president Eric Kaler gave his "State of the University" address Thursday afternoon.
Faculty and students at the university's Rochester campus gathered around for a watch party to hear what Kaler had to say.
He touched on hot button issues, including DACA and reaffirming the university's support for dreamers.
He also went into addressing sexual misconduct, saying that the university is working to find solutions to protect students.
"I think he's a standout guy and watching him talk about these different political issues and issues that the University of Minnesota have to face and improve on is very interesting and I look forward to what he has for the future," said University of Minnesota-Rochester Senator, Charles Birck.
Kaler also fielded questions about the university's budget, saying the university needs to be more efficient in their spending because they will not be receiving extra funding.
