Just a sophomore at Kasson-Mantorville, Patrick Kennedy is already one of the best wrestlers on a team that's won back-to-back state titles.
So when Kennedy was in a car wreck Friday morning that left his Chevrolet Suburban flipped over, his first reaction was simply to grab his wrestling bag and get out of the car.
He was on his way for section weigh-ins and once he got himself out of the car, he waited for responders to show up so he could head off and make the team bus.
The wreck was so bad, his car was left nearly totaled.
"The first thing I remember is I don't know if it was smoke or powder in the air, but I thought it was a fire, so I undid my seat buckle because I fell on my head and I grabbed my wrestling bag to get out of the car and then like I noticed there was a fire marshal nearby and I went and called my parents, but the first thing I grabbed was my wrestling bag," said Kennedy.
And once Kennedy made it to weigh-ins and his match up, he promptly pinned his opponent in just 14 seconds.
Even a car wreck can't slow him down.
