ROCHESTER, Minn. (FOX 47) -

BaconFest returns for its fifth year as part of the Rochester Winterfest. Kahler Apache turned into a destination for all things bacon with bacon-filled food, drinks, and desserts. Canadian Honker restaurant cooked 15 varieties of Bacon-inspired dishes like pecan bacon, coffee and cocoa bacon, and maple bacon cheesecake shooters.

It was the first time the event held a celebrity bacon eating contest with five community members. Participants had to chow down on a pound of bacon.

My cheeks are very sore right now," said Ian Naatz, BaconFest Competition Winner. "It was maybe a pound-and-a-half along with bacon-wrapped cheese curds. I think the cheese curds were the hardest because I started with that. And then that kind of kept me behind, and then when I heard I was losing I went into overdrive."

Mike Deolt, President of the Rochester Better Chance Foundation, says the RBC scholars are chosen based on academic potential and promise.

All of the proceeds from this event go towards the Rochester Better Chance Program, which provides inner-city youth from across the country an opportunity to attend John Marshall High School and give them the resources to succeed. Everything from travel, food, and housing. Currently, the program supports one student but aims to have at least two per year, according to Deolt.
