Mother-daughter duo give gift of warmth

WINONA, Minn. (FOX 47) -

Tiegan Prigge, 12, has a passion for helping southeast Minnesota's homeless population. After writing a letter to several organizations in Winona and Rochester, she received $400 to support her cause. Last week, Tiegan spent her day shopping with her mom for materials and looking for people who need her help. Now, the mother-daughter duo is making fleece blankets.

"I chose Grace Place in Winona because it's Christian based and it helps many different families," said Tiegan Prigge.

Among the charities she chose were Family Services, Hope Harbor and Mission 21.

"It's always good to help others in need," said Terri Prigge, Teigan's mom. "Even if we think that our lives are bad, there's always someone who might be worse off then us."

Teigan says her charitable side came to light in 2016 when she participated in Winona's 4-H project and collected 350 shoes for Soles4Souls, a non-profit that distributes shoes around the world.

"I'm very proud of her, she has always been a leader, and I think that this is just a good push for her," said Terri.

Terri says the act of giving makes her feel warm inside and wants those in need to know that there are people who care about them.
