A fire broke out at Lourdes High School Sunday afternoon, prompting the school to evacuate.
The Rochester Fire Department says they received a call just after 1:30 p.m. reporting cardboard boxes on fire under a set of stairs at the high school.
A student used a fire extinguisher to try to put out the fire.
When crews arrived, those inside the building for a basketball game and a musical event had already evacuated.
The department says the school's sprinkler system kept the fire in check.
Firefighters used extinguishers to put it out.
No injuries were reported and the fire department estimates about $5,000 in damage and clean up.
"The damage should be relatively minimal," said Rochester Fire Captain Brian Petersen. "We've got a bit of water potential water damage, there might be a little bit of smoke damage, but all in all, pretty well contained."
Gold Cross Ambulance and Rochester Police also assisted on scene.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
