It's a platonic kind of speed dating.
A new event in Rochester aims to help adults make new friends.
Allison Girres, a librarian from the Rochester Public Library, organized Speed Friending at Forager Brewery Wednesday night after seeing it done in another city.
People were matched up one-on-one for three minute conversations, then rotated around the room.
Similar to speed dating, at the end of the night, if two people tell the library they're interested in getting to know each other better, then the librarians will connect them.
The event's organizer recently moved to Rochester and thought it would be helpful for people in similar situations.
"I think Rochester would be a great town for this kind of event because we do have a lot of people who move for work or their spouse's work, and it's hard to make friends when you're an adult," Girres said.
More than 60 people showed up to the first speed friending event.
The library is already planning another speed friending for February 21st at 5:30 p.m. at Forager Brewery.
