Court appearances for people arrested in weekend Austin shooting incident
AUSTIN, Minn. (FOX 47) -
Two people charged in a shooting incident Sunday in Austin appeared in court Tuesday.
32-year-old Christopher Coleman is charged with being a "Violent Felon in Possession of a Firearm" which is a felony. 35-year-old Samantha Bennett is charged with two felonies for allegedly helping Coleman.
Around 11:15 Sunday night, police responded to a call about gunshots heard near 2nd Street and First Avenue Southeast.
Coleman reported a 2004 Chevy Monte Carlo had been stolen by two men.
Police found the car running and unoccupied on First Street.
9 mm shell casings were found in the car, and at 105 2nd Street Southeast, where the car was stolen from.
Coleman is jailed on $50,000 bond with conditions.
Bennett's bail without conditions is $20,000.
Police say she admitted hiding a 9 mm handgun in a basement laundry room.
