One lucky Rochester 7th grader is back in town after a surprise trip out east where she received the surprise of her life.
On January 5th, Manasa Yerriboyina received the honor of a lifetime when she was named this year's NFL Play 60 Super Kid.
As the winner of the 2017 NFL PLAY 60 Super Bowl Contest, not only will Yerriboyina deliver the game ball to the official on the field just before kickoff, but she will get to interview some of the players.
"I didn't expect it at all. It was a total surprise," said Yerriboyina
Last week seemed just like any other for 13 year old Manasa Yerriboyina.
What started off as a family trip to New York, turned into being the surprise of a lifetime.
"My parents knew, but I didn't," said Yerriboyina. "I thought the other two finalists were going to be on Good Morning America the next week, but other than that, that's all I knew. I just thought I was going to be interviewed."
Even days after the announcement, Yerriboyina still could not believe she won.
"I'm kinda still in shock," said Yerriboyina. "When I first found out I was like 'Someone please pinch me! Is this a dream?' I didn't expect this and when I found out I was a winner, I'm like 'Oh my gosh!'. I was so excited, I was in shock. It was kind of overwhelming at first but then I was really proud of myself. I guess hard work pays off."
"In gym class she's always like "Oh lets keep jogging, not walk, during the 5 minute jog, and just keep playing," said Yerriboyina's friend, Natalie Boorjian.
"She's a really great friend and a really inspiring friend," said Yerriboyina's friend, Christine Song. "I feel like as she goes to the Super Bowl as the Super Kid I feel like she could inspire many more other children to get actively involved in any kind of activity for 60 minutes."
