Minnesota Governor Mark Dayton travels to our nation's capital Tuesday to meet with a member of President Trump's cabinet.
Gov. Dayton meets with Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen.
Minnesota Public Safety Commissioner Mona Dohman is also making the trip.
Dayton serves as chair of the National Governors Association's Homeland Security and Public Safety Committee, but Tuesday's meeting has another goal: to discuss Real ID.
After Minnesota passed a Real ID law last May, the federal government granted an extension until October of 2018, giving the state a chance to begin the new ID process.
