The holidays can be a difficult time for families who have lost a loved one, but an organization is hoping to let those families know they're not alone.
Seasons Hospice hosted its annual "Memories of the Heart" community memorial service Tuesday evening at Christ United Methodist Church.
Leaders read aloud the names of all those who died while in the hospice program this year.
The ceremony also included a candle lighting, musical performances, and time for reflection.
Seasons Hospice says more than 500 lives were being honored.
"We have a reflection where we actually spend time thinking of our loved one," said Heidi Smith, Director of Bereavement for Seasons Hospice. "And It's a way to remember them through the holidays. It's a very dark time for so many but we're hoping to bring a little bit of light as we remember and honor their loved ones."
The community memorial service has been a tradition for Seasons Hospice for more than twenty years.
