You've probably heard of designing buildings to be environmentally friendly, but what about making buildings that are good for your own health?
That's what Rochester city leaders wanted to hear about tonight at an event at the Bleu Duck Kitchen.
Destination Medical Center invited Peter Scialla to talk about designing buildings to improve people's well-being.
His company, Delos specializes in the field and does research on how things like air quality, humidity, or light affects the human body.
He says that Rochester can make new and existing buildings healthier.
"When you think about all the stakeholders, whether it's developers, tenants, corporations, policy makers, legislative support and so on and so forth it is a combination of a powerful group of people that can affect the lives of many people for a long time to come and lead by example as it relates to health and wellness which is what this community is all about," Scialla said.
Representatives from Mayo Clinic also spoke at the event.
Mayo's "Well Living Laboratory" also studies these concepts.
