1 person in custody after deputy chase and perimeter search
BYRON, Minn. (FOX 47) -
An early-morning pursuit turns into a perimeter search in a Byron neighborhood Sunday.
An Olmsted County Sheriff's deputy clocked the suspect driving 78 mph in a 60 mph zone on Highway 14 near Byron around 2:30 a.m.
The deputy followed the suspect onto 10th Avenue and turned on his lights. The suspect then crossed a ditch and headed East in the west bound lanes, circling back to 10th Avenue.
The pursuit was eventually called off, but the deputy spotted the suspect vehicle at its registered address on the 1000 block of 3rd Avenue Northeast. Deputies learned the suspect had ran away from the home, so a perimeter was set up to find him. By 4 a.m. 33-year-old Matthew Erwin was in custody.
Erwin blew a .15 at the Adult Detention Center. He faces a Felony Fleeing charge, plus 3rd Degree DWI.
