Before gathering around the table, many people in the Med City pounded the pavement at Thursday's Turkey Trot Race.
Walkers and runners of all ages lined up Thursday morning for the event's 5k race at Soldiers Memorial Field.
Once they finished the run, participants received 'finish line' cinnamon rolls to start their holiday eating.
Racers say this morning's run was the perfect way to kick off Thanksgiving.
"Kind of a spur of the moment thing, but we thought it would be a good idea to get some activity in before we ate all the food," said Kelsey Berg, one of the runners.
"It's fun to see all the families and people out here on Thanksgiving morning and friends and all that so that's kind of a nice feeling," said Krystal Quamme, who also ran the race.
The Turkey Trot benefits the Med City Foundation which helps people living with blood cancers.
Cesar Lopez finished the 5k first with a time of 17 and a half minutes.
