Unpaid parking tickets in Rochester? Here's why you might want to pay up

Posted: Updated:
ROCHESTER, Minn. (FOX 47) -

Drivers with unpaid parking tickets in Rochester might want to pay them to avoid a major headache.

The Rochester Police Department is changing its enforcement policy on unpaid tickets.

Vehicles with five or more unpaid parking citations exceeding 30 days old will now be subject to towing and impound.

Beginning this month, letters will go out to the owners of vehicles who are at risk of this.

They will have 21 days to pay up before they're at risk of crews towing them away.

There are many ways to pay tickets, including online or by phone at 888-266-1408. Tickets may be paid in person at the City Clerk’s Office or using the after-hours drop box in the Government Center parking lot. You can also pay tickets by mail with check or money order to City Clerk’s Office, 201 4th St. SE Room 135, Rochester, MN 55904. The city asks that you do not mail cash.
