Tuesday marked the 500th anniversary of the date of the Reformation when Martin Luther proclaimed his Ninety-Five Theses.
Celebrating the 500th anniversary, the Rose Ensemble and Piffaro groups performed a concert Tuesday night at the Zumbro Lutheran Church in Rochester.
The groups performed hymn's from the Reformation era and attendees were able to sing along to the musical legacy of the reformation. Most of the performance was sung in German with the audience given a copy of the lyrics as well as the translation.
"We've got a program called Welcome the People...It's a celebration and a commemoration of the 500th anniversary of the Reformation....and the music is a representation of the first generation of Lutheran or Reformation composers from Renaissance Germany" said Founder of the Rose Ensemble, Jordan Sramek.
The two groups were also at the Rochester Public Library earlier Tuesday giving a free educational program for the public, as well as perform some of the compositions featured in tonight's performance.
