Bear Creek Services is teaming up with volunteers from Lowe's Home Improvement today to restore the Allendale House as part of the Lowe's Heroes Project.
Volunteers spent their Tuesday installing new appliances, repairing damage, and re-painting the Allendale House as a way to give back to the community.
The Allendale House serves as a home for six individuals who have developmental disabilities.
Volunteers say seeing the reaction from the residents is worth the work.
"I think it's exciting for them especially for their family," said Andrew Young, Lowe's Assistant Store Manager. "It's a good place for them to come hang out with the residents here and be able to enjoy the atmosphere and updated house."
"They take so much pride in their home," said Pam Alberts, Bear Creek Events Coordinator. "They were able to be part of choosing the colors, where they want their TV, that type of thing. When they walk through the door today it's going to be an incredible scene. It's going to be like the best day ever for them."
Lowe's provided all materials and appliances.
