President Trump's former campaign chairman, Paul Manafort, is turning himself in to the justice department and to special counselor Robert Mueller.
This comes after a federal grand jury, working on the Russia investigation, approved the first charges in the investigation. The indictment is expected to be unsealed later Monday.
Former trump campaign official Rick Gates has also been told to turn himself in, according to sources familiar with the matter.
Mueller was appointed in may to oversee the investigation into alleged Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election. President Donald Trump and his administration have repeatedly denied any wrongdoing.
Mister Trump spent part of Sunday venting on twitter, calling the investigation a "witch hunt."
However one of the President's lawyers, Ty Cobb, says the tweets were not related to special counsel Robert Mueller.
