RPS holds meeting for concerned parents over charged former school employee
Rochester Public Schools and the Rochester Police Department held an informational meeting Wednesday to answer questions on the investigation into the actions of Nicholas Keller.
Keller, who worked at sunset terrace's school aged child care program for ten years, is facing charges of criminal sexual conduct and child pornography. He's scheduled to be in court on November 30th.
Parents were concerned with how the school district dealt with the situation, and because of how long it took RPS to notify them, which happened nearly 4 months after the investigation began.
RPS says there is no ongoing risk to any student or employee in this matter and that is why the meeting was so important.
RPS superintendent Michael Munoz said there were many legal barriers that prevented the district from coming forward with any details. Munoz also said the matter was transferred over to Rochester police as soon as possible.
Keller had worked at the school for around 10 years. Investigators say they see no reason to believe his conduct began before last school year.
