DFL Minnesota Congressman Tim Walz and Republican Iowa Senator Jodi Ernst both reacted to the Las Vegas shooting spree that left more than 50 people dead and over 500 injured.
Congressman Walz released a statement saying in part: "I refuse to believe nothing can be done to reduce the likelihood of these attacks."
Congressman Walz went on to call House Speaker Paul Ryan and the rest of Congress to allow the CDC to research gun violence and to pass universal background check legislation.
Senator Ernst's statement sympathized with the victims and their families saying, "My prayers are with all of the victims in Las Vegas, and their loved ones affected by this senseless act of violence. As we learn more about what happened in the days ahead, let us come together and show our gratitude to our first responders and the other unsung heroes who put their lives on the line for others."
The Las Vegas attack is the deadliest mass shooting in modern US history.
