Although many of them are too young to remember September 11th, children in Rochester had the chance to commemorate Patriot Day Monday afternoon.
The Hy-Vee North hosted its first ever Patriot Day event for kids.
The store invited first responders and local law enforcement to show off their vehicles and equipment.
Mayo One made a special visit too.
Event organizers say the day is about more than just looking at big trucks.
"I think this is a great opportunity to get up close and personal not only with the vehicles but also with the law enforcement themselves just to create that relationship and understand what it is that they do for our community," said Kaitlin Anderson, Hy-Vee Community Relations Coordinator.
Proceeds from a celebrity dunk tank and food sales will benefit the Law Enforcement Memorial Foundation of Southeast Minnesota.
