ROCHESTER, Minn. (FOX 47) -

UPDATE: More information is released about the shooting in northwest Rochester. The shooting happened around 8:48 p.m. Tuesday in the area of 19th Avenue Northwest and 41st Street Northwest, near Madonna Towers.

According to the Rochester Police, the victim had set up a 14-year-old babysitter to watch the kids Tuesday night. When the mother of the babysitter dropped the her off, the victim went out to greet them.

While the three were talking outside the car, they heard gun shots. The victim told police he felt a pain in his chest. The three people dove into the car for protection. The car the suspect was in continued on 19th Ave. while still firing more shots.

Police said, in total, there were 20 shots fired. Six to seven of those went into the victims car. Officers later found bullets that traveled 600 yards into a home and garage owned by an older couple.

When the shooting was over, the victim ran into his home to find his kids. Officers arrived shortly after. When officers arrived, they found the victim had been shot in the center of the chest but was still able to talk. The victim told officers that the suspect was his neighbor 35-year-old Roderick Miguell Malone, of Rochester. Officers then went next door and found Malone on his patio in only his boxers. He was arrested without incident.

While searching Malone's home, officers found a 9mm handgun.

Malone is being held at the Olmsted County Adult Detention Center and could face charges of attempted second-degree murder, first-degree assault, second-degree assault and other weapons offenses.

Also during the investigation, RPD learned that earlier this year, the two men were acquainted with each other. However, the victim told police he stopped communicating with Malone because he felt uncomfortable.
