A local community garden is falling victim to thieves, and the city's mayor is asking them to stop.
The Stewartville Community Garden rents out small plots of land to people each summer for an annual fee.
But lately, several plot owners have said their produce is been being stolen.
Stewartville's mayor, Jimmie-John King says they know it's people stealing it rather than animals because they can see human footprints and some plot owners have even witnessed strangers taking food from the garden.
"People need to realize some of these people put a lot of time and effort into this and this is really enjoyment for them," said King. "And it's not just for them to come and take. We'd like to get the word out before we have to get too carried away with any law enforcement that this is theft, it really is."
King says the community garden program has been going on for many years but this is the first time he's heard of people stealing from it.
