The future of Rochester is now a bit clearer. This afternoon Mitzi Baker from the Rochester-Olmsted Planning Department presented a Comprehensive Plan update at the Rochester Committee of the Whole Meeting. The plan lays out future development plans for the city of Rochester over the next 20+ years. It focuses on growing downtown Rochester and highlights what changes need to be made to accommodate the expected growth of the city. By 2040 Baker says Rochester will see 50-thousand new jobs and residents, plus 52-thousand visitors and commuters heading into Downtown. The plan emphasizes the need for improved transportation downtown to accommodate for this growth.
