Love the game of Clue? Forager Brewery will be playing something very similar this Saturday, but life-size!
The restaurant will be celebrating the old and welcoming the new this New Year's Eve with a Murder Mystery Party.
"So a murder mystery essentially is you take on a persona for the evening and you become an entirely different person," said event organizer, Jake Dreher. "Eventually you get some information as to the tragedy that has occurred and you're trying to figure out which one of you in the event is actually the murderer. You try to figure out the clues and you talk with each other and it's just a really nice party game."
Many people have never played before, but that shouldn't hold anyone back.
"You shouldn't be nervous at all," said Dreher. "What you should really expect is to have a lot of fun because you get a lot of information as to who your character actually is and it gives you some suggestions and things like that. There are a lot of like minded individuals who are going to be there as well. So you're not thrown to the wolves or anything like that."
There is no right or wrong way to play a character, you just let it grow organically.
"You go into the night with very little information," said Dreher. "You get some background information for your character and then you develop your own persona around those guidelines. Once in a while you get some information thrown at you from a detective or like a phone call will happen in the middle and you'll get some information and go from there."
But don't expect everyone to get the same amount of information.
"Some people will know more than others," said Dreher. "Everyone has their own little secret and everyone has something they're trying to hide and try to find out. The detective will have a little more information as to the murder itself but there's a lot more intrigue, I mean it's Hollywood, it's a lot more than just plain old murder."
This is the first year of the event and interest is high.
"The reactions have ranged from major curiosity to outright excitement," said Dreher. "We've been selling tickets pretty consistently since we put it up and a lot of people are interested in ringing in the new year as someone else.
The event will also have live music as well as food and alcohol.
It is at Forager Brewery on Saturday, December 31 at 7:00 pm.
