ALBERT LEA, Minn. (KTTC) -- An Albert Lea man was taken to the hospital in critical condition after a motorcycle crash near Albert Lea.
The Freeborn County Sheriff's Office said Christopher Michael Edwards, 22, crashed his cycle on County Road 22 in Bancroft Township. When family reported him missing about 4:30 a.m. Thursday, a search got underway.
He had been last seen leaving a friend's house about 11 p.m. Wednesday. Edwards was found about 5:30 a.m. during a search of the route he would have likely taken home.
The sheriff's office said Edwards was not wearing a helmet and suffered life-threatening head injuries.
He was taken to Mayo Clinic Health System in Albert Lea where he was treated and transferred to Mayo Clinic Hospital, Saint Marys Campus in Rochester in critical condition.
The sheriff's office said alcohol is believed to be a factor in the crash.
