Welfare check leads to drug bust at Rochester hotel

ROCHESTER, Minn. (FOX 47) -- A welfare check on a child ends in a drug bust.

Police were called to Value Place at 3595 Commercial Drive Southwest at about 10:30 a.m. Wednesday after a report that a child was alone in a room there.

When the officer arrived, Rochester police said Jordan Schwartz, 23, was in the room with the child.

Police said the room smelled like marijuana, and when the officer tried to enter, Schwartz pushed the officer allowing a woman and the child to escape.

Schwartz was arrested and told police the three jars of marijuana found in the room came from Colorado.
