ROCHESTER, Minn. (FOX 47)--The 2014 Minnesota Percussion Association's State Competition started off with a "bang" in Rochester on Saturday.
Twenty-six teams from Minnesota and Wisconsin competed for the drumline State Title. Percussion ensembles have the opportunity to compete in 4 classes. The drumlines are judged on their musical abilities as well as their choreography.
"You're seeing a wide variety of talent level. From groups that are just beginning...to what we call 'world class' which is college students competing...doing things that you'd be astonished that they're capable of doing," said Minnesota Percussion Association Board Member, Lee Krueger.
Rochester's Lourdes High School drumline competed. The state title winners chosen at the competition will advance to the Percussion World Championships in Dayton, Ohio in two weeks.
