ROCHESTER, Minn. (FOX 47) -- Cathy Santiago and her two sons decided to take on the challenge of building their first ever snowman on Wednesday, but what they built became much more than a source of winter time fun.
What appeared to be just a massive Frosty-inspired creation, turned out to be carrying a message much greater than the snowman itself.
If the nine-foot-tall white giant isn't reason enough to feel accomplished for the day, Cathy also made it a symbol of hope for her cousin.
10-year-old Levi suffers from prune belly syndrome, which affects about 1 in every 40,000 births.
Due to complications of the disease, he now needs a new kidney.
"Well they just started this look for the transplant, he had one when he was 18-months-old, and this one's starting to reject and fail," says Santiago.
Levi has undergone more than 60 surgeries in his lifetime, and has gone through treatment with a smile on his face.
Cathy says the five hours it took to roll and pack this hefty snowman, was well worth the effort.
"We figured it's a big snowman it will get attention, why not put a sign up there saying he needs a kidney maybe someone will drive by and see it and maybe they'll call and get tested and who knows, maybe they'll be a match," adds Santiago.
Levi and his family have been staying at the Ronald McDonald House in Minneapolis while he's on dialysis.
Levi is looking for any kidney donor under the age of 50, with blood types B positive or O.
There is a number you can call on the snowman's poster, if you're interested in possibly donating.
