WINONA, Minn. (FOX 47) -- New reports say a Minnesota woman who drowned after her car plunged down a 40-foot embankment and crashed through ice in Wisconsin was intoxicated at the time.
Police say Ellen Ahmann, 21, was living in Winona and attending WSU, when she crashed through the ice on Swift Creek in La Crosse after bartending at a downtown tavern.
Police reports obtained through an open records request say her blood alcohol level was 0.16 percent, or twice the legal limit.
Surveillance tape shows Ahmann taking three shots in a half hour before she left the bar.
