Mason City woman gets 5 years in prison for fraud and identity theft

MASON CITY, Iowa (FOX 47) -- A former employee of a financial brokerage firm in Mason City was sentenced Monday to more than five years in federal prison for fraud and identity theft.

Teresa Dorenkamp, 42, of Mason City, pleaded guilty in August to one count of wire fraud and one count of aggravated identity theft.

In a plea agreement, Dorenkamp admitted that, while employed by the financial brokerage, she fraudulently obtained money from the firm's clients by falsely depositing the money into her account or her husband's account. She admitted she caused $391,725 in fraudulent transfers and deposits from May 2007-August 2011.
