ROCHESTER, Minn. (FOX 47) -- Rochester's new City Clerk began his first week in office. And though he is just starting, he has big plans to push the city's digital goals.
Aaron Reeves began his new position Tuesday. He replaces Judy Scherr who served in city government for over 30 years. Reeves joins City Hall after serving as city administrator in Cannon Falls since 2008.
Reeves jumped right in to his duties as he attended his first city council meeting Wednesday evening. He says he looks forward to taking on a new, challenging role in a much larger city, especially in the online realm.
"We're going to be looking at ways we can improve the service level of the citizens by increasing our use of technology, you know, how can we make things easier for people to do online and you know, remotely those sort of things so I think that's definitely going to be a big thing that we're going to be moving forward with kind of in the near future here," said Reeves.
Reeves has prior experience with bringing in new technology in his position in Cannon Falls. This past year he brought paperless agenda packets to the city council there by replacing them with iPads.
He also introduced an online billing system and permit applications.
