ROCHESTER, Minn. (FOX 47) -- A frozen fire sprinkler pipe broke and caused an estimated $50,000 in damage at Quarry Ridge Apartments in Rochester.
Rochester firefighters were called at 1:05 p.m. Tuesday to 1805 Quarry Ridge Pl. N.W. Crews found the sprinkler pipe broke in a second floor apartment. That apartment, the hallway, and several other apartments on the second floor had water on the floor, according to a news release. Water also came through the ceiling in two apartments on the first floor.
Water damage was limited to flooring, drywall, and electrical fixtures. Firefighters shut down a portion of the fire sprinkler system and removed as much of the standing water as possible.
