ROCHESTER, Minn. (FOX 47) -- Two major forces came together Tuesday to promote healthy eating across the state.
The University of Minnesota teamed up with the Minnesota Alliance of the YMCA and brought their Cooking Matters tour to Hy-Vee Crossroads in Rochester.
The initiative is to create resources for families to help them learn how to shop for healthy and affordable food.
On Tuesday, shoppers combined hands-on food preparation with nutrition information, food budgeting, and shopping techniques like comparing unit prices and food labels. Research shows these shopping practices are associated with better dietary quality.
