NORTHWOOD, Iowa (FOX 47) -- A judge will consider a change of venue motion for a murder trial in north Iowa.
The attorney for 39-year-old Tyrone Washington Jr. filed the motion. A hearing took place Monday in Worth County Court, but County Attorney Jeffrey Greve said the judge didn't make a ruling. A trial date has not been set.
In September, Washington filed a written not guilty plea to a charge of first-degree murder in the stabbing death of Justina Smith of Northwood.
Investigators say Smith was stabbed to death Aug. 5 at Swensrud Park in Northwood. Authorities found Smith with several stab wounds. She was taken to Mercy Hospital North Iowa where she died from her injuries.
Washington is being held in the Worth County Jail on $500,000 cash-only bond.
