ROCHESTER, Minn. (FOX 47) -- If you live along Lake Zumbro, the annual drawdown of the lake is nothing new.
But officials say this year's releasing of the water will be more substantial than in year's past.
Rochester Public Utilities began the annual drawdown over the weekend. Officials say the drawdown is a necessary procedure that allows R-P-U
to perform maintenance and shorline restoration work.
Unlike the usual drawdowns of less than 2-feet, however, officials say this year's water release will draw the lake down 4-feet.
Weather permitting, the elevation goal could be reached by November 4th, and refilling the lake to maintain the winter pool range could begin as early as November 11th.
