Fire destroys farm building in Goodhue

GOODHUE, Minn. (FOX 47) -- A farm building which housed a corn planter is a total loss after a fire breaks out in Goodhue Sunday afternoon.

The call came just after 3 p.m. on the 3700 of County 47 Boulevard outside of Cannon Falls.

The Goodhue Fire Department and the Goodhue Sheriff Department both responded to the call. The Zumbrota Fire Department assisted with a water tanker to help extinguish the blaze.

The building belonged to Farmer Scott Ryan of Goodhue. Ryan said he was working in the building and prepping equipment when the blaze broke out. He added that he had turned on heaters in the building earlier that day.

Captain Mike Kehren of the Goodhue Fire Department declared the building a total loss.

Ryan said the fire came at an especially unfortunate time because he was just beginning preparations for his fall planting season.
