AUSTIN, Minn. (FOX 47) -- Students at Ellis Middle School in Austin are fighting against bullying in a bright new way.
Wednesday marked the first Unity Day at the school. Kids wore orange clothing to show they are together in the fight against bullying.
Ellis Middle School teamed up with the Community Against Bullying program to create shirts for students to wear on Wednesday.
"I think it's something they all believe in their heart. You don't always find kids that are willing to go out and to actually verbally show that they can make a change or impact our environment in a positive way. So, that's why we like to do things like this, so they can symbolically show their support," said Lea Oelfke, school counselor at Ellis Middle School.
Students signed a united against bullying poster that was showcased during the homecoming football game. Anti-bullying events will continue for the remainder of October.
