ROCHESTER, Minn. (FOX 47) -- September is Hunger Action Month and Channel One Food Regional Food Bank volunteers were stationed at various locations around Rochester Thursday morning to kick off a month of activities.
Volunteers were stationed at Moka coffee shop on Broadway Avenue and at Hyvee Barlow Plaza locations, as well as at both Rochester area Walmarts and The Salon.
Channel One Food Bank and Food Shelf also partnered with Rochester Motor Cars as part of their annual "Driven to End Hunger" donation effort.
At each of the five locations they had a spot to drop off cash and food donations.
Jennifer Woodford, Channel One executive director, Jennifer Woodford says even one dollar can go a long way.
"With the donation of just one dollar, we can provide enough food for five meals. When we talk about, 'Can you make a donation?', large donations are great, but if you can spare a dollar or two, that's five meals or ten meals," Woodford said.
Woodford said Channel One is always accepting monetary and food donations. She added that if you have any extra veggies in your garden this year, feel free to bring them down. Woodford said fresh veggies are always the first to go.
