HARMONY, Minn. (FOX 47) -- While most kids spent their last weekend before school soaking up the last few hours of summer, a few kids in Harmony were having fun working-- picking corn, in a fundraiser to help those battling cancer.
This year, the Wingerts, a local Filmore County farm family, were able to plant an extra acre of sweet corn-- and the kids are putting the proceeds from that extra corn towards their Relay for Life team.
They say there's a history of cancer in their family and saw this as a good way to give back.
They've been out at the end of their driveway every day since last Wednesday and have raised 400 dollars. Colton and Morgan wake up around 5 every morning to finish their chores on the farm, and then head out to the field to pick the sweet corn they plan to sell for the day.
The kids are selling corn on County Road 44 in Harmony until the corn runs out.
And even with school starting tomorrow, Colton and Morgan say they don't expect classes to get in the way of their business.
