Fire destroys antique auto warehouse in Hollandale

HOLLANDALE, Minn. (FOX 47) -- A warehouse full of antique cars caught fire Monday afternoon in Hollandale burned for hours out of control, with firefighters from nearby cities helping battle the blaze.

The blaze destroyed two buildings belonging to Jones' Storage at 101 Netherlands Avenue West in Hollandale.  NewsCenter's Sean Sandefur reports from the scene that there wasn't enough water in the village system to battle the fire, so crews are trucking in water with trucks from nearby communities.

"The whole town is here watching," reports Sandefur.  "They are using Highway 251 to haul water in with tank trucks."

The warehouses are owned by Jones Auto Sales of Hollandale, but co-owner Irene Jones says the fire appears to have started in the "middle" warehouse that had been rented out.  She says she and her husband Donald and their Donald Jr. own the business.

"I was about to go on a road trip, but I looked out and there was all this smoke," said Jones.  "The fire has spread to our warehouse, and all my old antique cars are in there, Model A's, Model T's, my Oldsmobiles... they're all gone."

Jones estimates there were 30-40 cars in the warehouse that burned.

Firefighters from Albert Lea and Austin are on the scene helping volunteer firefighters from Hollandale.  There are no reports of injuries.
