ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) -- The Obama administration's decision to delay until 2015 a health care obligation for employers is welcome news for some Minnesota companies.
A St. Paul Pioneer Press report (http://bit.ly/19XnM3O ) says the companies are relieved to have extra time to understand the new law and its options.
The delayed provision would penalize employers with at least 50 full-time workers if they don't offer their employees insurance coverage.
Kate Johansen is the director for health policy at the Minnesota Chamber of Commerce. She says there's relief because the Jan. 1 deadline wasn't realistic. But she says it's still a problem because it's slated to go into effect a year later.
However, the rule isn't expected to affect a huge number of companies. The state Department of Health notes that most large employers already offer coverage.
