Toward Zero Deaths workshop held in Rochester

ROCHESTER, Minn. (FOX 47) -- The ninth annual Southeastern Minnesota Toward Zero Deaths workshop took place at the Rochester International Event Center on Thursday.

Traffic crashes are the leading cause of deaths for Minnesotans ages 2-34, so Thursday was meant to help find ways to reduce crashes and improve road safety.

Matt and Megan Logan lost their daughter in a car accident last September -- her death was the result of texting and driving.

The Logans spoke at today's event hoping to save the lives of others.

"She cared about everybody. So for us to tell her story, I feel it's what she would want us to do. If we can save just one life because we're sharing our experience, it's worth it and it's very healing for us," Matt Logan said.

Besides safety and prevention, experts were on hand to talk about using new information technologies to help emergency medical crews respond to crashes faster.
