ALBERT LEA, Minn. (FOX 47) -- The city of Albert Lea has closed Bancroft Bay Park because damaged trees remain on the ground from the May 2 snow storm.
The park will remain closed until further notice as city crews remove limbs scattered through much of the park. Dangling limbs also pose a threat to fall.
The city is still working to clear debris from other spots and that's why area parks haven't been touched yet.
"I've never seen anything like this," said Jay Hutchison, parks and recreation director. "We're just kind of taking it day by day right now. We're trying to hit the priorities, the public areas along our boulevards, anything that's overhanging streets, cars, and private property."
The city is also backed up on normal maintenance duties thanks to the snow and cold sticking around so late this year.
There is no timetable for Bancroft Bay Park to open at this time.
