Stolen firearm found in Albert Lea

ALBERT LEA, Minn. (FOX 47) -- Police in Albert Lea are looking for someone who may have stolen a firearm a few months ago.

An officer noticed someone carrying a long object near Sampson Dairy, 126 St. Thomas Ave., shortly after 10:30 p.m. Sunday.

When the officer shined a light on him, he took off running.

The suspect was last seen running through backyards in the area of Eberhart Street and David Avenue.

Police ended up losing him but they found a .22 caliber rifle on the ground near Sampson Dairy.

According to Albert Lea police, it was determined that the rifle was stolen during a burglary in Mower County in December.

The suspect is described as a white male approximately 5' 10", wearing a black sweatshirt or jacket with a hood, blue jeans and white shoes.

Anyone with information is asked to call Albert Lea police.
