AUSTIN, Minn. (FOX 47) -- The distinct smell of meat products coming from Hormel Foods in Austin may soon become a thing of the past.
In an effort to improve efficiency and upgrade to more environmentally-friendly processes, Hormel Foods will soon be including state-of-the-art odor control technology at the Austin plant.
The upgrade will destroy odor compounds before they're emitted, eliminating the smell associated with the plant.
Hormel is investing approximately $25 million to upgrade the plant.
The project is set to start by early summer.
